[Beowulf] help with cables

I have ordered two flextronic 8 port switches and five topspin dual port
HCA's. Most of these decisions were a combination of cost limitations (it
sits on my coffee table) and careful scrutiny of photos on eBay.
Right now I have a great price on an HP SmartArray with controllers.
My first concern is that it will require a 1U machine to manage RAID and my
next concern is that the controllers will need adapters for the 4x SDR
cables which I believe will connect to the TopSpins and Flextronics.
Anyone with hands on experience with this '08 gear, please help me out.

My experience - go to your local pharmacy and purchase a dental probe. You
use it to threaten the switches as in Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man.

Seriously, the dental probe is used for releasing the latches on those
cables in tight spaces.

A barebones and lot of 73 gb drives might be cheaper yet.
Rather than adding a loop I would like a compact rack. P2P and 10g Ethernet
isn't as attractive. A storage 2006-2010 age, ready to connect to my
flextronics is what I am looking for. At that price I had to give it
thought.
I have two PE2950's so a PowerVault seems like the obvious answer. Shipping
is just so high with the vendors right now. The topspins are pcie 8x, a lot
of five was a steal. Cables seen to have a minimum price...generally each
cable's is both in And out? Maybe that is fibre again.
And about the dental probe: I live in Mexico. Almost everything is for sale.
You are a big help, thanks again.

a long bamboo skewer also works, and conveniently it’s an insulator, and available in packs of 50.

{These too, can be used to encourage good behavior on the part of your user base, much like the dental probe, but without the need to drill a hole first. And they’re biodegradable!, and you can carry them through the TSA checkpoint}
